Hello! My name is Alex Hild, and I am a Cinema and Theater Arts Graduate from Virginia Tech. My passion is to create films and videos that make my audience feel some emotion. Whether this be feeling entertained, sad, happy, or excited; I want to let my audience fall in love with the stories I create or document.

I love storytelling and my favorite creative outlet has always been Fantasy. Through playing Dungeons and Dragons, I found that I had a strong connection with wanting to stay in this imaginative, creative world. It brought me closer to my friends and allowed me to branch out of my comfort zone to act as whoever I wanted to be. It taught me improvisational skills and later helped me develop a passion for making videos and commentating over video games to entertain an online viewership on YouTube. I spent countless hours teaching myself how to record my friends and I playing video games together. This was not only for myself to look back on, but for others to watch and hopefully become inspired as I did when watching my favorite online creators. This passion for editing and making these videos turned into an interest for acting on a stage in front of a live audience. I found that this experience gave me a new perspective that I was not used to. Instead of hiding behind a camera and having the ability to edit out mistakes, I was performing live in front of a whole auditorium of people. My love for theater circled back to obtaining my first camera and I realized that I wanted to pursue creating films as a career. The feeling of going to the movies and sitting down in the movie theater, about to watch a film that you have been anticipating for such a long time, that is what I strive to achieve for my audience. Seeing the looks on people's faces whenever I share with them a film that I am working on is what I care the most about. Watching how they react and hearing the feedback are what I love the most about making videos. 

I love the editing process the most and continuing to develop my skills overtime has helped me see how far I have come. Editing is what I am passionate about because of how satisfying and important it is for the film production process. Edits dictate order, understanding, and continuity of storytelling. I absolutely love perfectly cut edits between footage that match up to music or to the beat of a soundtrack. It makes for more believable and enveloping precision to its viewers. I want to learn more about how I can incorporate these skills into my own work and practice what it looks like to work on a larger scale.
